Have you considered using printed promotional letterheads to encourage more business?
It’s a great idea to visit the offices (where possible), of the people you do business with. Nothing beats a meeting face to face. Especially after the COVID lockdowns!
One of the things you might want to notice when you visit their office is, do they have framed certificates and testimonials on their walls? Or do they have a folder for customers to view testimonials?
If they do, this is your opportunity to consider a framed printed testimonial.
With our close business partners, we print a testimonial on a letterhead. This is a great idea if you have a well branded letterhead that stands out. Don’t have a letterhead? We can help you with printing those.
It is not purely about how the letterhead looks, but also how it reads. There are ways of writing a letterhead testimonial to promote your business, at the same time as really thanking the receiver.
Promotional letterheads are a two way advertising tool
Before I get into how you could write one. It’s good to ask for one. Display them on your walls for your visitors to see how well you do your job. It’s also possible to ask your clients to write the testimonial about a certain aspect of the work you carried out. For example, if I were writing an article about Stapled booklets and they had Letterheads, Flyers, folders and stapled booklets from me. I could ask them to write the testimonial about the design, print and customer service in direct relationship to stapled booklets (or to have a particular emphasis on those). In return, if you come to write a testimonial for them too, you could ask them what they would like you to write about specifically.
Offer to write the testimonial in as many places as would be helpful for them – they may just do the same for you in return!
How to write a promotional letterhead / printed testimonial (I will include an example below).
- Focus on one person where possible. Explain how good they are and what they do.
- Be specific about what they have done and how well they have done it.
- Mention, where appropriate, why you used their services – have you used them before and did that lead to confidently using them again? Was it that you recommended them to someone else and they did a good job for them?
- Mention how important it is for your business (name your business) to use trusted people for services. Explain how good service is an important part of your own business (this is where your business is also promoted at the same time for anyone who reads it).
- Where possible, mention the problem and how they were able to solve it.
- Congratulate them and offer to recommend them to others in the future.
Ultimately, think about what you would love to receive in a testimonial and write it in such a way. Don’t go over board on advertising your own services. Writing a great testimonial reflects well upon you with a small mention about what you do.
An example of a promotional letterhead
Here is an example that we wrote recently to a lady who organises travel / holidays for me personally and my contacts. I will place my comments in brackets.
“Dear Lisa of Luxe Travel,
At Afford A Print we love to help our customers beyond our printing services. Recently we printed some hymn books and Christmas Carol booklets for a client in Bristol (mentioning what we did for the person – so the reader has an idea of what we offer).
From our conversation around the work, it became apparent that he had just got engaged to be married. So with you in the back of my mind, I asked him if he had any honeymoon plans. He didn’t!
(this is where the gap / problem became apparent to recommend Lisa)
So I mentioned you were able to do all the hard work on his behalf. He was very happy to take your call. In fact he was very happy throughout the whole process – he said “Lisa could hardly of made it easier….. Honeymoon booked – Lisa was great!”
Thank you so much for looking after my client, I will certainly be recommending you to others where I can. Well done!
Best wishes,
Nigel Williams,
Director of Afford A Print (It’s good to mention your position in the business so that the reader will see how official the review is)”
Compliment the testimonial
Although not every printed testimonial will get placed on a wall for all to see, you can try and persuade the receiver to display it somewhere. Don’t give them a cheap frame – a more expensive frame will more likely be displayed.
Make sure you print it on an actual letterhead – a high quality letterhead (120gsm uncoated or thicker. But make sure you can print on them using your printer. Many desktop printers don’t cope well with thicker papers). I have seen photocopied testimonials and paper folded in half when handed over – these don’t look good and are likely to be filed away, never to be seen again!
Make sure your letterhead is well designed – we can help. If it stands out, then it will more likely to be read by others.

Why use us for your promotional letterheads project?
Sandy contacted us for various items to be printed. Amongst the items they ordered were some letterheads. Sandy left a five star review on Freeindex, ranking us 5/5 on all counts. She said this:
“I am re-branding and developing some new services and wanted to know how much the printing would cost. I talked through my ideas with Nigel, who made a few suggestions regarding printed media and provided me with quotes for the various options. Nigel was sent the artwork for my new business cards and letterhead on Wednesday and they were ready for delivery to me, the following Monday. Unfortunately I couldn’t be home to accept delivery, but re-arranging a convenient time was no problem. Nigel has kept me informed of progress and delivery dates, and I am extremely happy with the quality and speed of the printing. He is now in the process of printing me some flyers. I will be using Afford A Print for all my printing needs and will definitely recommend them to others.”
